It Looks Like It Worked
Well by the end of the week the scale was showing downward movement. With this Sunday's weigh in it was 3 pounds for the week (which is very good for me). After weeks of no real progress it is very welcome to see. There is renewed hope that things will start moving at a better pace again. So glad for the trainer's input. I had been increasing work and times to workout but would never had made the jumps she implemented or some of the new items. Guess major changes were needed to shake this old body up to burning again. The best thing is that more time was not needed, just different and much more intense on some of the old things. Have to admit the beginning of the week was hard, both the work and the soreness. Told myself stick it out and see for two weeks. By this weekend though the discomfort is back to the normal worked muscles. The actual work is still tough while doing it. Looks like that is what works for me. Have to keep it going.

Congrats girl! You have worked so hard!
Hope this week brings new hope for you. I didn't get to go to the gym Friday, Saturday or Monday (DD didn't have school and no one to watch her on Saturday). So feel kinda outa the loop, really need to get back on track tomorrow!
So how many sets do I need, three? Start with higher weight or lower?
I have looked it up, but most info is for men. Just wanna know what you do.
Have a wonderful week Marie!
Chari
Hi Chari,
I remember those days. Miss my guys being littler but makes other things easier.
When I was doing it on my own I had been doing more sets of reps with lighter weights (but enough to feel it). It worked in the beginning. Had read that in the past, get the work but not bulk. But the trainer said there was some study that said after two sets there was little benefit. She wanted the weights up. To the point where after a couple reps you really feel it and the second set is on the tough side to very tough. She did not think bulking up would be a problem (and at this point just wanted things moving again). The number of reps to a set depends on the machine. Made a chart lower in the blog. I do the cardio first and then again at the end. This Friday I see her again and she said we would go over free weights. She feels my body has gotten use to the work outs with "assisted" (seated or glidey type ex. the machines and elliptical) she wants more upright, work while using more muscle groups and/or core. She also smirked at my going up 5 pds at a time. She upped it by at least 10 on each. She said less why bother, (know she was tough from Pilates). Oh have to run, late for class.
