Had the trainer meeting. Glad I broke down and did it. Feeling very optimistic things will turn around. We covered past menus and work outs. She had me do what I would normally and if it was staying in the new plan adjusted it to were she felt it should be in speed/intensity/time. She added a few things also. Going to work this new plan for 2 weeks and meet again. We will see how it is going and will add free weights as well then. She also brought up the snack issue. So I will try and get snacks in (just not hungry and usually busy, but will try).
Changes made:
* On most of the machines the weight was upper by more than I would have done in a jump. But she wants no more than two sets of reps. She sited a study that said any more than that was of no benefit.
* With the weight machines I had been just resting for a very short period between sets on the same machine. She want it to be do an arm machine for a set then go to another arm machine(they are grouped together) and then repeat so though doing the same area the specific movement varies giving a better rest period between set on each machine.
* A cardio each time. She said I did not need as much time as I was doing each day, just make the time more intense and effective. Shifting the type on different days would keep the muscles from getting to use to the pattern.
* She felt a few of the weight machines I was using were not the best choices and took them out of the routine.
* She said at least one day off, still could walk or house/garden work(like those would stop) but not gym workout.
* Added a few balance ball exercises. We will be adding free weights when I see her in 2 weeks.
Additions made:
* More treadmill and with a slightly different speed and incline combo. It is shorter bursts of each keeping in a tighter heart rate range.
* The stair machine that I always said I would never go on. She got me on it and though it is a beast, it is doable.
* She added quite a few new weight machines. She felt shifting the specific machine would cause muscles that were use to working in a certain way to move in a slightly different way and would help. Free weights will be next.
* There are a few classes she recommended, not sure on them because of timing.
I will be keeping the rowing machine and pool because I like them but they are extra from the plan. She did not think it was a problem. Keeping the once a week Pilate's class also (next session may make it twice a week, just like it). Feels good to have a new plan.

Marie , I am so glad you met with a trainer and have a new plan. It feels good doesn't it. I did the treadmill for the first time yesterday, it was a Nautilus...awesome machine! I would love to have one at home 5,000 dollars. Any hoo, got it up to 13 incline but didn't go over 3.3 in speed. I did it for 30 minutes, in intervals of up and down, Great workout!
Glad she recomended you eat more, I am sure these steps will break your stall.
I am smiling over here for ya!
Stay strong

Hi Chari,
It felt good yesterday. Today, Ouch! But that is probably a good sign. I'd really like a couple of the machines at the house but yeah the prices. I did buy a middle of the road priced heart rate monitor. Had thought not going to do it but glad I did. Does not have all the bells and whistles but does keep track of calories as well as heart rate. It has been interesting what it has show. I was really under estimating the calories burned. Great job on the treadmill I can not do 13 my heart rate goes to high. I'm peaking at 8.0 or 8.5 incline with 3.2 speed. Then 4.4ish at low 4s speed. Think the higher weights are really hitting home also. Just would not have gone as high with some with out her push. And that stair thingy, it is really tall with actual rotating stairs and varing settings. Yesterday thought oh this is not TO bad but today the legs and lungs were saying are you nuts. Will have to really work at that one. The eating is hard because just not hungry. She said just a few nuts or apple, will try. It is good to feel things may start moving again. How's it going?

Marie, sounds like things are good. Just wanted to say I did want to get a heart rate monitor, did the consumer reports thing and all, but I only found ones with a chest strap...just not sure I could wear one....sounds worse then wearing a bra..lol. Most of the machines at the gym have monitors, and they seem to work well.
Hope your new work out goes well!
I go to 2 different gyms and have never seen the stair thingy...is it new?
Take care Marie

p.s. where did you get the food picture on your archive menu...I wanna spruce up mine , but could find no free pictures that looked good?
Hi Chari,
I think the picture came from photobucket.com. It has been awhile, it may have been uploaded to PB first though. I keep an album there of things to maybe use on whatever. Looked at all the saved items and once in the album it just gives a PB identifier so not sure. You can find stuff on the craziest searches though.
The strap is not to bad. Wore it all day to get a feel for the rate all day and calorie count during different reg. activity. Also was good for while doing none rate testing machines or weights (and IF running outside ever happens HA). Have to agree do not think it is nec. for everyone. I have some HR issues and though never wanted one she managered to get me set on it. Forgot about the strap until I opened the box at home.
I think the machine is an older one. The trainer said they use to call it the gauntlet but changed it. I missed the new name I was poofing to hard at the time (I know it as machine 57, they are all #ed). She also wants me to do the reg. stair master. That one though not harder feels awkward to me and hurts my knees alittle. But you see them more often and the gym has a ton of them. Only two of the big one. I found a picture on PB (though it looks shorter in the pic) will post it by the changes items.
