Just Some Ramblings

A little disappointed that this week the scale just sat at the same number.  The goal of a month with losses each weigh in did not happen.  Still two more Sundays, now to get them to move.  The doctor's visit this week was a mixed blessing.  The weight as I knew was up some from my last visit. But as she pointed out still a lot better than in the beginning.  Blood pressure was great, liver enzymes staying level, thyroid fine, good cholesterol was great but the bad was up again, 159.  Have 6 months to get it back in line or back to medicine (even with liver issue).  Really do not want that.  The good news, the triglycerides were good, loved that since they were the problem part before.  I was just a little surprised the bad cholesterol was where it was.  Did not think the cut back on exercise would effect that as strongly as it did.  The food did not change much over this period so think it is the exercise change.  That foot surgery can not come soon enough.  It will be so nice to be back to it once the healing is done.

While watching a show a statement was made about eating after seven in the evening.  The doctor said if you do not eat in the evening then you will be hungry in the morning.  If you are not hungry then you must be nibbling or over eating.  I do not find that to be true.  Granted my cut off is eight but usually it is earlier.  Even for the blood test (needed fasting) which I could not get in early I was not hungry that day.  Since shortly after starting this, hunger is not an issue.  Not sure why hunger does not kick in but it is not from over eating.  Watching portions, determined to have numbers all stay in healthy zones.   Just found it annoying that the doctor in the interview would make a flat statement.  Sorry, Rant over.

Chipping At It

This week's weigh in whittled two more pounds off the twenty seven pound rebound (now 24).  Really wish I'd stuck to the plan of never allowing more than a ten pound gain.  Recommitting to that vow.  Resolving also to seeing that what is on the menu now is a body contentment not a deprivation. Old choices may taste good for fleeting moments but what it is doing internally is not worth it.

Did not get in morning meditation, had a bunch of raking to do.  The winds have brought most of the leaves down.  They were wet from the drizzle and many seemed to glisten yellows, golds and reds. Used that time to try and work in a make shift working meditation.  The neighborhood was very quiet, just a squirrel, quite a bit of birds and me around.  It was refreshing to let thoughts come and go as they would, it just seems easier with physical activity.  It set a good tone for the first day of my 29 day giving challenge.  I was flirting  with the idea of doing it since reading about it in a blog on the Healthy You site, Merry from Sheesh.  It just seems to have come along at the perfect time.  Here is the start of my 29 Days.

Oh, Back To Strict

This week has been a real roller coaster on many fronts.  But out of it some good may have come.

For a bit now I had been taking a point of view to just be positive even if it was faking it.  The positive would just become habit was the thinking stated in an article previously read.   Did not find that happening.  While reading an article in Tathaastu:So Be It, "Making Your Mind Your Best Friend", the point was made to not fight or ignore the negative thoughts but let them surface and then let them go. A little bit over simplifying here but the idea of not ignoring or pushing them down was what clicked.  While trying to practice it's advice I found moving forward was easier.  With the frustration down I decided to do some research in other areas.  There has been some signs of blood sugar imbalances again.  The eating was to plan and though exercise was not what I'd like it was there.  So went and looked up information on the liver, insulin intolerance and metabolic syndrome.  Found a few things that fell into place with the reading.  While thinking about the information, the past attempts and this time, noticed some patterns.  From this some thoughts for change came up.
~~~~~
1. Making a few changes to eating plan.  Going to work on the premise of insulin imbalance and follow that food plan while keeping what I can of You On A Diet.
2. Going to try and get the pool back in along with more non cardio.  The foods eaten are important but strong exercise is a big key.  Every attempt has proven it, articles for imbalance covered it.  They mention far less than I was doing, but if that is what it takes then guess what.  As soon as the foot is back to workable then big time cardio comes back.
3. Going to make a dental appointment.  Found several articles on dental issues and insulin imbalance.  Gums have been a big issue since my first son was born.  Looking back the better weight control has always been when this has been being watched on worked on.  It was not something I'd linked together before.
4. Changing up how positive attitude is worked a bit.  Like mentioned before, work through the negative and go on.  May be a post on that subject later.
The weight gone is a big issue but not having things turn into type 2 diabetes is even larger.  Worked so hard to get numbers in line and do not want any sign of it showing it's ugly head.  Determined to prove the gastric doctor wrong even if he is  nice fellow.
Hopefully Downhill From Now On
PhotobucketSunday weigh in brings a pound down.  May not be much but it is movement in the right direction again.  Going to try and have a month of all lose weigh ins.  The foot surgery will not be until December so this month gives me a little time to get more exercise in before having to stay off it.
This week's goals
-keep getting in more veggies
-try and get in as much cardio as foot will take
-less red meat and fish at least three times this week
Picked up Farmer John's Cookbook: The Real Dirt on Vegetables, it is enjoyable and has some recipes I'm looking forward to trying. Whole foods had several free handouts this weekend with info and recipes.  Love having new things to try out.
My Challenge ticker
My personal challenge starts 6/13/09.
It is to get to, or as close to the goal as possible by next March.
I have stepped out of my comfort zone and signed up to chaperon a school trip the end of March 2010.
So! do not want to go on this cruise in this shape.
