Go Away Again Voices

The season has changed and so have the thoughts running through my head. It is back to an internal warring dialog of, It's cold ~ So what ~ I'm tired ~ It will give you energy ~ There is so much to do ~ It will all get done... back and forth on exercise. Those thoughts mixed with, MMM butter noodles ~ But you're not hungry ~ Then mashed potatoes ~ But you're not even hungry ~ Popcorn then ~ You're not listening ~ I think it is you that is not listening... nagging on about nibbling. For months this had stopped and there had been no struggle. Hopefully as winter sets in and things become the normal state this will end again. Truth is if the exercise gets in there is more energy and it helps to make you feel better. The nibble nag is not from hunger so it needs to go away, it is so annoying.

Oh well there is only about 3 or 4 months of it, HA.

One Out of Two

I would like to pat myself on the back for doing such a good job on Thanksgiving day but the second family celebration yesterday was another story. From the start, made all the old classic poor choices. Started by not making time to eat small well spaced meals. No time for work out. Followed up with grazing on the goody spread while cooking the main meal. Rationalized that I was only eating the "not so terrible" goodies. Then by dinner thought it is just one day, go ahead. Besides thought, your passing on the mac and cheese, lasagna, dessert. But that thinking came around again as the four of us were laughing and chatting in the kitchen after everyone had left. The guys started it, then it is their fault, right? Out came the leftovers. Ok can not blame them but it was so nice to have us all together (and no brotherly squabbling). It was mind less nibbling at mid night, so much for not eating after eight.
So it is time to go and face the music. Today is weigh in day. It will be what it is and back to working it. Going to get in a good work out before spending the rest of Sunday driving my son back to college. Hate to see him head back, but it might be a good thing. Do not need another midnight nibble/chat fest. Though it was very nice, not often the guys all chat like that.

~Had a good work out. A few days off routine and the sore muscles hit fast. The scale edged up but still within the bouncing range it has been in, so not as bad as I feared. Thank goodness.

Fingers Crossed

Was happy with weigh in today but still have my fingers crossed that the bouncing numbers on the scale the last few weeks are finally going to get with the program and just head downward again. One pound away from being back to the lowest, now to keep it there. I think the instructors knowing the situation and making the work in the classes way beyond anything remotely close to a, I can do this zone, has helped. Even if the sight is less than graceful and the next days are tough moving, it may be working. What happened to just add a little time or intensity? Guess if it gets it going shut up and do it. Off to get the last (hopefully) of the leaves while the family is out.

Monday Monday~~~

Kept to the plan today. The yoga class really is my new favorite. Thinking of finding a good DVD to do at home, just not sure what one, there are so many in the stores. All afternoon felt the muscles from the stretches but not in the same way as the strength training leaves them.

Scale is still bouncing around. Going to stick to the plan for the week and see where it falls. Meals are still not a problem. Not sure why but do not ever feel hungry at all. Trying to eat at the intervals to keep the blood sugars/metabolism working where they should. Still miss morning snack but that is when I'm in the gym. Going to try a new cereal for a change in the mornings, Ezekiel 4:9 Original. Just found it in the store, not bad. Should help with the fiber.

To find our calling is to find the intersection between our own deep gladness and the world's deep hunger.

Did Not Quite Make It

This week's weigh in shows another gain of a pound. With that being said, earlier this week there had been a gain of five, ouch. Being sick with no work outs added up fast. Had hoped to have it all off by weigh in today. There is always next week. Going to give it all to try and get back to the lowest weight again next week.

This coming week's plan
Mon. Yoga class, treadmill and rowing machine
Tues. Pilates class, elliptical, stair climber
Wed. weights, treadmill, rowing
Thur. stair climber, track or cycle, pool
Fri. weights, treadmill, rowing
Sat. Pilates class, elliptical, stair climber
Sun. weights, track or cycle, pool
For the cardio, going to keep the HIIT with larger differences in the intervals.
Meals, increase the veggies. Also try and increase fiber.

Really Liked This Magazine

Reading information on food, exercise and health has become a past time the last few months. Today picked up a magazine OnFitness which had several articles that interested me. Side note, it was nice to not have all the ads for lose weight/fat quick with some pill. After reading through a few of the articles, key points from each have me thinking of revamping weekly work out schedule and style. Saturday morning is the Pilates class and may ask the trainer her opinion. One article talked about proper breathing. This week in the Yoga class I had thought that correct breathing is something needing work. It is just so noticeable and stressed in the yoga class. During other types of workout I can get to focused on the muscles working, heart rate, or combinations of things.
Have some planning and changes to make.

Some other magazines which have had interest

It Said What?

Getting sick was dangerous to the scale (snuck a peak at the gym). Hopefully it is a germ based water retention thing (is there one?). There are four days until Sunday weigh in so the game is on! Being stalled is one thing but real upward movement is not dismiss able. Fought long and hard to shed those pounds the first time. Have to find the right mix to get the numbers going and then get back on losing track again. It is going to go.

Loved It

Ok forgot how much I love yoga! It has been SO many years. This class is the Hatha version. (May try the Flow Yoga in the future) The instructor is really great. Wish it was more than once a week. As the class went along I could really feel it and then it went back to a more restful stretch. So in the end you felt full circle. Though still not feeling 100% went to the class and managed to not cough through the whole thing. After class I was going to get on the treadmill but could feel the wheeze/tickle and decided to forget it for today. Treated myself to the steam room, the sinuses loved it. May not have been the hardest workout but it has me feeling better than the last week. It is nice to have something that works the body but relaxes and destress you at the same time.

Another new set of goals ...

  1. Better over all balance on some of the positions
  2. Be able to go further with some of the stretches
  3. Better muscle endurance for some of the positions
  4. Smoother breathing for some of the positions

Yoga inspirational message pick for the week ... When we seek to discover the best in others, we somehow bring out the best in ourselves.

A Take It Easy Sunday

Okay, did not hit the turn around with this germ battle yet. Yesterday got fed up with the house and thought some fresh air and daylight would help. Armed with my tumbler of hot tea and Kleenex decided to get the new batch of leaves that had fallen. It went fine during the raking and blowing bits but would regret the vacuuming up/mulching part all night. Found that eyes and sinuses that are not happy already really get vengeful if irritated more. They really do not like leaf dust. Very itchy, sneezey, swollen and teary all night besides the existing germ features. Today things are back to where they had been. Food choices are easy, can not really taste much, stamina is down though so not burning much. Maybe Monday will have things back to normal. Starting to miss that good feeling after working out.

As I write this the backyard is showing another sign the season is changing. It is Feeder Central! Birds that usually have other food sources are flying in right and left. Blue Jays, Cardinals, Chickadees, three kinds of woodpeckers, Nuthatches, Finches, Sparrows ... the regulars not to mention the squirrels and chipmunks. It seems like the Juncos should be back but have not seen any yet. Earlier the Cooper's hawk dropped by but there was not much here then. Guess his timing was bad. It is just nice to see all the activity and color with the trees and plants going bare.

Thank Goodness For Hot Tea

Today was the worse day of this lousy bug. It seems to have hit it all. Telling myself tomorrow is the start of the turn around. One benefit to this is not one toe has stepped on the scale. It is usually something that just has to happen. Have not fretted over not getting in the gym or any other exercise. Do hope it is better by Monday. That is the first day of the Yoga class. Need to be breathing better for that and would hate to miss it. It was actually lucky this hit during the week break between class sessions. Had said I was going to go easy that week, little did I know how easy.
